In reply to letter No. 31, dated 17th July last, forwarding a letter from Mr. George Campbell, regarding the payment of fees on account of letters Patent by which Judges of the High Court are appointed, intimates his inability to interfere in the matter, as the payment in required by the Act of Parliament ; and States that it would be out of the question to propose for India alone the relaxation of the general law which applies to the whole of the British Empire.
