With Reference to paragraph 3 of Despatch No. 33, dated 3rd November 1887, states that the reduction on one of the appointments of Deputy Inspector General of Police in the Madras Presidency was sanctioned by the Government of India with the approval of the Local Government on the 29th March 1887.
