With regard to paragraph 2 of his letter No.1437 -A, dated the 26th May 1881, states that a sum of Rs.50,000 will be held in reserve by the Public Works Department for the purpose of granting contributions during the current year to Local Governments towards the cost of repairing or restoring ancient monuments.
