Officer made by the Bombay Government to advance loans to the Native States joining in the Gokak Canal Scheme and being unable to provide from their own funds, the necessary share of Captial. Bombay Government informed that this offer involving a loan of 16 lakhs to the Kolhapur Darbar should not have been made without consulting the Government of India as a loan to a Native State in excess of Rs. 5,00,000 is beyond the power of the Local Government to sanction.
