With reference to Mily. Dept. LTr. no. 267 of the 9th inst. regarding certain chrges for demurrage for carriage supplied to troops on their march, made by the Collector of Saharunpore, states that the G.a. of 1824 which empowire the civil officer on collectign carriage for Troops, to settle what is the established local rate of hire at whihc demurrage may be charged.
