In reply to his despatch no 554 at 31st May 1852 conveys the opinion of Govt. that a new oath could not properly be administered to syer drives of Horse field Baztteries already inlisted and sanctions the extinsion to all syce drivers who may be hereafter inlisted, of the extract from arty standing orders para 5 santion 52 which requires anb engagement to be interred into to go an board ship generally7 if required and to service beyond sea.
