In reply to No.21 dt.2nd ultimo regarding the police at Allahabad forwards copies of correspondence on the Subject the Lt.governor is of opinion that there ha been some misapprepension regarding the expression used by the Mr.Lowther, there appearing to be no reason to distrust the police more than at any other but considering the distance of the fort from the city it seems unreasonable to book to the police for the safe custody of prisoners within its walls, and for this and not for police purposes, are irregular cavy required.
