With reference to a letter of the 9th Instt. states that, whatever Rule was laid down in 1814, a subsequent G.O. of the 23rd May 1823, allowed Officers of Company's service to hold Divisional Commands and as a matter of Course, the allowances of such commands, without limitation of rank and that this order has not been refered to by the Military Auditor General in his report requests that the Military Auditor General be called upon to report why the Rule o 1814 was inserted in the code of 1849 while the G.O. 23rd May 1823 which is at direct variance with the Rule of 1814 should it have been applicabe to Company's Officers has been omitted.
