With refce to his lr. of the 16th feb. last forwards for transmission to the court of directors a despatchf form the juidge Advr. Genl. containing returns of punsishment avarted to native offiers and men of the Armies of the 3 Presidencies during the quarter ending the 31st Decr. 1846 states that enquirres are now being made tin England on the subject of corpasal punishment and that until the result shall have been made known the govr. Genl. defers naoting former recomendations to extend porporal punishment.
