The undersigned has been directed to report that the following circumstances may be brought to the notice of the Government of India by the Secretary to Government in the Military department – by G.O.C.C. the 29th May 1852 Major C.W.A. Charteris was removed at his own request from the 89th to the 19th Regiment as junior of his rank. He came to begin in the 89th Rest[?] N.I. from which Regiment there were not any sub officers absent on detached employment. The officers who entered the 19th Regt N.I. as junior Ensign in this corps, there were then only five subalterns on detached employment.
