This is to certify that it appears from the records in the Adjutant General's office, that Lieutenant Grant Heatly Tod Heathly of the 23rd Regiment Native Infantry on the Bengal establishment, was admitted into the service on the 12th of August 1834; that he went to Europe on furlough, on account of his private affairs, on the 10th of August 1847, and returned to his duty, by permission of the Honorable the Court of Directors, without prejudice to his rank, on the 1st of July 1850; the period, therefore, of Lieutenant Heathly's actual length of service, up to the 12th of October 1853, is as follows.
