Copy of a letter from Mr. G. Baldwin, stating that in consequence of an engagement between the English and the French off Brest, orders to make warlike preparations have been received, that the plague is raging at Constantinople and other places, intimating the order of the Porte forbiding trade between India and Suez on pain of confiscation of goods, and stating his intention of leaving for Constantinople to obtain a revocation of the order.
