The discussions by the Solicitor-General and others with Sir B.N. Rau yesterday showed clearly that The King’s connection with India could be maintained if Sections 1, 2 and perhaps 7 of the India Independence Act, 1947, were to be reaffirmed by India, or retained at the time of the repeal by India after the report of the Constituent Assembly of the balance of the Independence Act, 1947.
