Promotion of apprentices in traffic to the Rs. 230-300/-grade with Northern Railway reference. Decision: (i) Traffic apprentices seniority should be preserved on a railway-wide basis, and a distinct panel should be established for promotion to grades Rs. 200-300 (PS) or Rs. 250-380 (AS) based on selection. (ii) The panel of traffic apprentices and the panel of other eligible staff (promotees from ranks) should fill vacancies in the grade Rs. 250-380 in a year in the ratio of one to three. Further promotion to the higher grade will occur in the customary way. (iii) Railway administrators may make up the shortfall by promoting appropriate traffic in any given year in which an adequate number of applicants are received through the selection process
