Orders issued by the Ministry of Finance regarding pay, increments etc. of employees whose promotion or appointment is held to be erroneous: Decision:- As soon as it is brought to notice that the appointment or promotion of a railway servant is erroneous:- (i) Orders of appointment/promotion should be cancelled and he should/brought down to a position which he would have held but for wrong promotion/appointment. (ii) In regard to permanent railway servants, confirmation should be rescined with the approval of the Board. (iii) Service rendered in the post appointment/promotion to which is erroneous will not count for any purpose and all the consequential promotion/appointment to be reversed. (iv) The decision of the President will be final in cases where the appointing authority is the Railway Board or the President. (v) Suitable disciplinary action to be taken against the officers and the staff responsible for such wrong promotions/Appointments
