Is it necessary to insist that an employee be a member of the linguistic group in order for students residing in government-subsidized hostels to be admitted to technical schools or colleges? The proposal from DDE(L) relates to instructions that state: i) students up to the Higher Secondary standard should be given preference in subsidised hostels where the number of seats available is fully occupied; ii) students from other linguistic groups may be admitted on payment of full charges if the capacity permits; and iii) students who are in receipts permits; and education from SBF should not be subsidised
