The communal construction of staff canteens. 1. The Board approved C.L.W.'s proposal to progressively expand the number of elected members on the Chittranjan Canteen Committee of Management. 2. Choices about a Central Railway reference that: (a) loans from SBF may be approved for canteens (b) Canteens do not need to establish a reserve fund; (c) The phrase no profit does not exclude setting food prices such that a small profit is left over for improvements such as replacing crockery and other expenses that are paid for with canteen revenues. (b) The initial canteen setup does not require the services of full-time Railway workers. A subsidy is required. (e) Since canteens already get significant assistance in accordance with the directives in Board letter No. E(F)45GR211, dated 30.10.45, no subsidy is required in the case of canteens. (f) The Board approved the waiver of power costs from the canteen in the CCS/COPS Offices, Gorakhpur, NE Rly., totaling Rs. 809.37, for the months of January through August of 1956. Additionally, the Rly. informed that since the canteen was taken over by the Gorakhpur Consumer Co-op Society on 9-1-60, it is qualified for a free electricity supply starting on that day.
