The Supdt. of Marine reports that, on Lieu-Col. Fergusson vacating the appointment of Indian Naval Draftsman, after the abolition of the Indian Navy (24th September 1863), Lieutenant Searle was appointed to the charge of the Govt. Observatory at Colaba, with the free use of the quarters, and an allowance of Rupees 50 per mensem for attending to the chronometers placed in his care.
