Read a Despatch No 47 of 1858 dated the 31th March from the honble the Court of Director replying to two letter addressed to there from ;th, Department explaining the measures adopted by this Governmant for the punishment of Mutineers, deserters, and Rebels, andthe instructing issued forthe Guidance of Civil Offices charged with carrying out those measures The proceeding of the Government are fully approved but the court observe that the instructing to Civil officies respecting the course to be pursued by them in regard to the treatment of Mutineers and Deserters insolve a superpession of the existing law on the subject /Act No 17 of 1857. Suggest that in one course a statment be prepared accounting as for as possible for every Sepoy`s leave on the Regimental master Rolls in May 1857.
