Secretary Bombay - Reports having conduded a contract with the Bombay Steam Navigation Coy. for the consequance of the Mail between Bombay and Kuwachee up to 31st December 1857 and connected the terms of the Contract. With regard to the enquiry made by this Government whether the mail Service might not be carried on by other means cheaply than by contracting with a Steam Coy. States that the Government don no possess the means of conveying the Mail more cheply then by the Contract system and that the Honble Court having approved of the continuance of the Mail Service under Contract in a Despatch no. 55 of 13th August last a Notification will be issued inviting tenders for the service from 1st January 1858.
