To the Honble Sir Edward Ryan Chief Justice Requesting his Lordships opinion on a question which arose upon the occusion of Sir F. Adam`s departure from Madras whether the Senior Civil Member of Clouncil of Fort . St. George no being at the time at the Seat of Government though wlithin the limits iof the Madras Presidency was entitlied to succed temporarily to the Government theree being no provisinal Governor or other Person entitled to Succed on the Spot.
