Brooke , Governor of St Helena , to the Governor - General, enclosing a copy of his letter to the Captain of the Alligator , reporting that five French battleships have left Brest bound for the Eastward ,and intimating that 12,000 pounds in cash will be sent to Bencoolen by the Arniston .
