Minute of the Governor-General urging that Governments should endeavour to reduce the expenses of living in Calcutta, particularly with regard to the wages of the native domestic servants , submitting a plan drawn up by Mr T. Motte, Superintendent of Police , for establishing a letter police system and for registering the native sevants and coolies proposing that Mr. Edward Maxwell, may be appointedas joint Superintendent of Police , and the plan may be communicated to the Judges of the Supreme Court for their approval.
