Protest of the opium merchants of Bombay and Calcutta against the imposition by the Chinese provincial authorities of illegal restrictions on the trade in Indian Opium. Refusal of the Merchants request for the suspension of the sales of certified opium and for the reduction of the quantity of uncertified opium on the ground of its being in excess of the requuirements of the non-china markets.
