In reply to No. 2050, dated 21st June, states the increase of charge per prisoner caused by the new scale of diet mentioned in his Office No.650, dated 17th May 1866. Adds that measures are being taken for the introduction into the Punjab Jails of a system of ``hard, medium, and light labor,``as recommended by the India Jail Committee.
