With reference to a lr. of the 2nd Sept. last, states that as the expense for the pay & allowances of a Serjt.& 2nd Corpls. of the sappers & Miners attached to the magnetial observatory, appertains exclusively to the Bombay Presidency it must be borne by that govt. & Debited to the civil branch, as in Bengal, with the exception to the pay proper of the men, which is a Mily.Church.
