With reference to Mily. Deptt. letter, no. 118, of 6th February last, submit copy correpondence with the officiating Paymaster Queen's troops, from which it will be observed that the delay complained of by the secretary at Mar in the transmission to England of the savings Bank deposits of soldiers sent home for the purpose of being discharged is cheifly attributable to the circuitons & inconvenient mode of realizeing treasury notes in which the saving of soldiers on reashing the maximum sum of 500 Rs. are invested under the operations of General orders 10 Oct. 1848, & 23rd May 1850 on which subject be addressed Govt. in his letters number's 3528 & 4381 A, Dated 9th Oct. & 30th November 1850.
