In contination of his letter no. 345 dated the 15th instant directed to inform that in consideration of the lenght of time lt. Hook has gwalier contigent it is the intention fo the most noble the Gover. Genel. in council that lt. Hook shall be exempted from the examination both preliminary and final which officers are under ordinary circumstances expected to undego on appointment to the3 commissaraite department .
