Transmits for publication a Genl. order notifying that the appointment of 1st lt. F. whiting of engineers to the Ganges canal published in G. O.G.G. 16th july 1849 is to have efect from 16th april of that year Transmits also copies of the G.O. and of ofice memo from ofg. mily secy. to the Govr. Genl. on the subject for record.
