Stating in reply to his letter no 298 of the 27th april last relative to a Regimental order issued on the 5th of febuary 1849 by Lt. coll Reginolds C.B Commandings Her majestry 18th Regt sanctioning the issue of an increased rate of jodder to the Elelphants employed with that corps on as marcm to the upper Provincees , that the arrangements should not have been made by the Lt. Coll and Govt. Consequently deem it inexpedient to authorized Confrimation of his Regimental order yet in Compliance with the recomendation of the late Commander in cheif the H .P in coucnil will not hold lieutt Coll Reginolds percumarity responsible on the occassion.
