Enclsour to a letter from the adjt genl of the army no 678 dt the 23rd june1852.With reference to mily deptt letter no 658 of the 24th oct last submits the reports from the officers comdg the regiments of light cavlry from which it will apper that a larged majoirty are in favort of the subsitiction of carbines for pilalst regt .
