In reply to your letter No 97 of the 27th ultimo I have the honor by the desire of the Chief Commissioner to inform you that the Government cannot recommend to his Lordship the Governor General of India in Council at so late a period of the season to carry into effect the measure proposed in your letter No 167 of the 19th instant for the movement of the troops & pension establishment of Sudder Brigade from Ferozpore to Sealkote and Jellallabad during the current year for the reasons therein assigned to which he adds in conclusion any attempt to march troops in the Jaloonger Dooab and Shakrosegurh without the greatest certainty the waters have subsided cannot fail to be attended with risk and inconvenience to the State and to the people.
