A claim existing in this department against Lieut. L. Hannay of the R. N. for a deposit in his roads and houses amounting to Rupees 145-6-6 for the period he was acting as Deputy Postmaster at Masulipatnam. The officer being at present absent from the Presidency in leave, I request that the Right Honorable the Governor General in Council will cause an order to be sent to the Military Auditor General to deduct the above amount from the allowance of Lieut. Hannay and remit it to me when realized.
