Proposal for undertaking Central Legislation for building and construction workers. The Ministry of Labour and Employment were informed that consideration of the draft bill to regulate the conditions of work of workers employed in the Buildings and Construction Industry should not be taken up till the recommendations of the National Commission on Labour in these matters were received and considered by Government. The discrepancies about certain provisions made in the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Bill and those now proposed in the new legislation for regulating the conditions of workers employed in the Building Industry were also pointed out of the Labour Ministry. The Practical difficulties of the Railways on the introduction of the proposed legislation were also pointed out to that Ministry
