The Ministry of Employment and Labour A proposal to alter the Payment of Wages Act 1936 to increase the maximum wage from Rs. 400 per month to Rs. 500 per month is made. The Minister of Railways informed the Labour Ministry that he had no problem with raising the current coverage limit under the Wages Act from Rs. 400 to Rs. 500 per month, provided that the concerned Gazetted staff on the Railways agree to be permanently exempted from the Acts provisions
