Sewing and knitting classes are being opened as a welfare initiative. HM's recommendations to train railway employee families in order to give them options for a second job and ways to supplement their income. The Rlys administrations received the necessary directives for the opening of these handicraft centres on Rlys. The Railways also suggested that they place trial orders at these centres for the supply of items like uniforms, bed linens, pillowcases, tablecloths, etc. for the hospital, dining cars, running rooms, etc. so that the families of Railwaymen can make good use of their extra items and supplement their income
