The Railway Employees (Hours of Work) Rules, 1961 and their subsidiary directives. The Railway Board's letter No. E/S/I-58/Adj 25 dated 4.1.62, along with paragraphs 10(a) and (c) of the Subsidiary Instructions, have been changed as follows:- (a) There should only be three spells of duty total; this means that there can only be two breaks. - (b) When there are spells of duty, staff members should always have quarters available for them to rest. If there are only two spells of duty, the staff members in question should be given preference when it comes to quarter allocation
