Excerpts from Her Majesty's Budget Speech for 1955-56. Proposal to increase the railway's contribution to the workers benefit fund. 1) From 1-4-55 to the end of March 1958, the rate of contribution from railway income to the S.B. fund was raised from Rs. 1/- to Rs. 2-2/- per person per annum. 2) Beginning with 1.4.55, the costs of maintaining child and maternity centres will be deducted from Railway Revenues. 3). The enhanced contribution rate will apply to the S.B.F. of I.R.C.A. The possibility of increasing the rate of contribution to Rs. 3/- per capita was also considered, but no decisions were made
