1) Purchase of Futwah-Islampur Light Railway on 31-3-1956. 2) ADAI(Rlys) raised two points: Whether the Govt. of Bihar were apprised of the loss in shape of subsidy paid to the F.I.LT. Rly.Co. in order to enable that Govt. to formulate scheme for adequate Road Transport services; and If the Ministry of Rlys. would consider to recover a portion of the loss incurred by not purchasing the line and dismantling it, from the Govt. of Bihar. Decision. 1. Negatived. 2. Yes. But the state Govt. were unable to improve the road to the full extent required to replaced the Light Rly. due to want of fund. Obviously the question of considering to ask for a guarantee against loss from the Bihar Govt. does not arise as it is not the policy of the Government decided in 1950 on the basis of the recommendation of the Convention Committee, 1949. Accordingly a reply issued to the ADAI (Rlys)
