Rules and Regulations: Guidelines for the Railway Administrations on the process to be used when reverting personnel who have held higher-level positions for an extended period of time without the positions being declared permanent. Indian Railways was informed in a letter from the Board dated August 25, 1956 that the Board's goal is to safeguard from reversion railway employees who would have been protected otherwise if posts had not remained temporary for an extended period of time. An employee would have remained to work under the conditions outlined in the Board's D.O. dated 2I-5-56 to General Managers of Indian Railways if they had completed 12 months of overall officiating service and 12 months of continuous officiating duty in a post that was itself transitory
