Proposal to establish Rangoon as an examination centre for the grant of Colonial (Foreigngoing) and Home-Trade Certificates of Competency to officers in the Mercantile Marine dropped in view of the impending separation of Burma from India. Promulgation of a revised Order in Council called the Merchant Shipping (Indian Certificates of Competency) order.
