Ruling by the High Court Punjab in a case under section 224 I.P.C. relating to the escape of a prisoner from the custody of Nahan State Police in British India that the custody was not lawful not becaused the accused was in the custody of State Police but the offence was under a State enactment corresponding to I.P.C. in British Indian Codes adopted by a State cannot be treated as original codes.
