State that in mily Department latter of the 28th feby 1851. the boards were directed to authorizes the entertainment by the supg Engineer punjanb circle, of an Extra writer a 40 Rupees permonth for 6months for the purpose of bringing up certain arrers in his office and in a subsequent letter of 4 april 1851. a further sum of Rupees 30 per mensem was sanctioned for another extra writer for a like period makings in all Rupees 720, of which Rupees 420 was for certain writer and 300 For a Draft amn and with refrence tos the explanations offered by the Supg Engineer to officiating chief Engineer states t hat be would not new returns the excess over to the rupees 420 as the Board passed the charges in septembr 1851.
