Read a Despatch from the Honble the Court of Directors No. 79 of 1854 replying to letter No. 36 of 1854 and approving proceeding relating to the construction of the Office of Lieutt. Governor of Bengal and the appointment of Mr. Halliday to fill the Office. Doubt whether the Indian Government Act of 1853 enabled the Government of India to except the Tenasserin Provision from the authority of the Lieutt. Governor of Bengal. Validity may however be given to the # of the Territorial Junidection of the Lieutt. Governor under Act 17 & 18 Vic. C 77 - The Lieutt. Governors of Bengal & Agra to send narratives of their proceedings to the Government of India by whom they will be transmitted to the Court.
