G. M. Jone Esquire Officiating Col of Customs Allahabad Reports that the & certain officers named all in the Customs Department & vohenteers at the Fort of Allahabad have under the presemptary orders of Col Noill come down to Calcutta in the Charles allen as treasare Escost which is now being handed without having had the opppostunity of drawing pay for may last & as threy are placed under very great peeuniary difficulties for want of pay & the extra expenses they have had to incur in hunging down their famalies beg that government will order payment of their salary for may as also that for June enclose documents in support of their claim & Draw attention to the charge made by the Commander of the steamer of Messrs.
