Note by the Secretary - that on the 14th Instant the Right honble the G. G. gave his assent to a Bill which was passed by the Legislative Council on the 8 Idem enitled a Bill for the better control of the Iails within the Presidency of madras and Bombay that the Bill has since passed into Law as act VIII of 1856 and that it does not call for the issue of any orders from the Govt. of India in this Department.
