Colonial Governors, Ministers, and Agents informed by telegram of the Currency changes introduced in India on the 26th June 1893. Silver and Copper Coins struck for Portuguese India under the Portuguese Covention Act, XVII of 1881, declared to be no longer legal tender in British India. Mint Masters, Calcutta and Bombay, instructed to await the orders of Government before issuing silver coins in exchange for silver coin or bullion received from Native States under the Native Coinage Act, IX of 1876.
